HELPING SOCIETY ONE SWADDLE AT A TIME, Cubby
Share
Socio-economic pressure has always driven people out of their comfort zone in to the "real" world of trying to fend for either themselves or their entire family. There is no greater cause than to be able to support the ones you love and aide in providing a better or even sustained lifestyle.
Although emergent over the past few decades, women have often been an overlooked segment of our workforce. In the west the transition of an equally divided labour force came around the 18th and 19th centuries when the economic fabric was at its weakest. This forced society in to an equilibrium of non-gender bias. The Industrial Revolution in part was fuelled by the economic necessity of many women, single and married, to find waged work outside their home. Women mostly found jobs in domestic service, textile factories, and piece workshops.
Asia and the subcontinent predominantly, have traditionally been extremely patriarchal in their views. Women are easily marginalised from society let alone the workforce. What is often missed however is the fact that within the lower deciles of society it is more often than not the woman who provides for the entire family.
When Cubby.pk initially came in to being in 2016, it was done with the view of providing affordable and easily accessible essentials for the babies. Over the years however, we have expanded our list of products and services in order to cater for a wider set of requirements. This comes with a greater sense of corporate and social responsibility. Where applicable and available we at Cubby.pk try and source our products/material from local businesses. This is so we can support businesses around us and also provide a means of living for extremely poor within the country. We are sponsors of our growing and highly skilled cottage industry. Our social governance team has been extremely diligent in locating and engaging skilled labour from highly rural areas. In the process we have been able to engage several marginalised women and get them back on the track to success.
For all the hard work that we have managed to put in to making our project to help women from Pakistan's cottage industry, we could not have been successful without you! Although we have been able to have an impact on a scale that we are extremely proud of, there is always more to do. Please continue your support for Cubby.pk and rest assured that we are all trying to work towards a greater cause.
